I was 12 years old in 1968. My Dad was in the Air force, so I took an interest in Vietnam and rooted intensely for "our side". I remember watching the network news shows and being impressed by the announced body counts of enemy dead. Then around late 1969 to 1970, even a young kid like me could figure out the body count game was just a preposterously dishonest propaganda campaign. It also became impossible to deny that we were supporting a corrupt dictatorship.
Now the body count game goes in the other direction, grotesquely undercounting civilian casualties. But the good Christians cheer. They love their national lies.
