Before I retired I was a auditor. One of my assignments was to audit the government relations department of a very large public utility. I learned that large corporations devote a significant amount of resources to grooming pro-corporate politicians and lobbying. The Chamber of Commerce does a lot in this area as well. This is an article about how foundations do the same thing. On the other side, next to nothing. The wingers cry "unions" - what BS. First, I have audited labor relations departments and know how easily corporations buy off unions to get political support. A little bump in health care in contract negotiations easily buys union support for whatever legislation or candidates the company is pushing. Second, union membership is down to about 11 percent of the workforce. Corporations have 80 percent.
