swing in hiring Underwood? Like I said , I am not an expert and have not watched Coach Underwood's work. But, Coach Underwood does not have that much head coaching experience.
With SFA, Coach Underwood had a good win in the tournament against VCU his first year. The next year, the only "name" win was against Memphis. The final year at SFA, his only "name" win was against West Virginia in the tournament. That is only 3 name wins in 3 years. I also know that it is very hard to get to play quality teams when your in the Southland Conference.
Going to OSU, Coach Underwood went 9-9 in the Big 12 with a good 10-1 in the middle of Jan and Feb. But then ended the year with 4 straight loses.
Is that really a resume that should inspire a top level salary and assistant coaching salary? Until Coach Underwood proves himself, don't you think he is really a reach for Illinois?
