I think a better comparison would be Trayvon Bryant. Both lefties almost exclusively. I don't think TB could use the right hand in the game. Jontay looks that way too.
Jontay and Kareem are different in many ways, IMO. Jontay does seem to play defense pretty well inside. Never say Kareem inside except by accident. Kareem had the classic jumper. Shot it high with a smooth flick of his wrist. Jontay needs at least to raise his jumper's release point about 6-10 inches at this level. His jumper does remind me of Trayvon in that it looks more like he shoots by pushing it from his shoulder rather than wrist and elbow.
Jontay does look likd he can be a rim protector if he will stay down there.
