Recall this quote? About seventeen years ago Alden hired a hotshot Duke assistant over Bill Self, an established mid major coach. Norm stated at the time, prior to announcement when it became clear he was going to bought out, that they were going to hire some young cowboy. It was time for Norm to go, but it's time to get an established grizzled coach in here to get back to good old fashioned Mizzou basketball. Four hires since Norm has seen Alden/ Mizzou go with hotshot Duke recruiter, gimmicky coach with 40 minutes of hell, and then two hires that defy logic and common sense. Have we not learned anything? Go with the experienced diploid coach and get this program where it needs to be. We know what we are getting with Crean, and I'd be ecstatic with Marshall, but that ain't happening. Holtzman would be great, I guess, but is he guaranteed to make it here? I think Crean is a guarantee to bring respectability back, and put a competitive team on the floor each year after he rebuilds. He's what we need right now, we can't afford another miss.
