Because, he is a great recruiter. Look at his time at Purdue for example. As lead recruiter for Matt Painter, he helped recruit E'twaun Moore and the other Baby Boilers. That group produced a Big 10 championship, a Big 10 tournament title, and a couple sweet 16s.
When Martin left for Tennessee, Purdue's recruiting took a major hit and Painter went through a rough patch (a last place finish and missing the tournament for two consecutive years).
The proof is in the pudding.
