it was somewhat of an awkward situation when he was hired with the Alden fiasco and he had zero support from the fanbase the first few years. But he delivered exciting competitive NCAA tourney teams and ended up with a 4-3 tournament record which for Mizzou is very good.

I think the flirting with other schools was just an offshoot of the apathetic fan support and ultimately knowing he and his family wanted to go to Arkansas.
