He's a 6. Known quantity is a relatively safe pic, but his ceiling is not that high. Maybe a 6.5

By comparison, Marshall is a 10 at Wichita and you hope he can be at least an 8 at MU.
Miller is a 9 at Dayton and you hope he can be at least an 8 at MU.
Keatts and Musselman are 9-ish at their schools and you hope the can be at least an 8 at MU.

If they don't work out as well as you hope, you try again. This is why you don't just throw a huge base contact at mid major coaches. You offer them good incentives.

But to hire a guy who is a 6 just because you are afraid the other guy might fail is completely the wrong tactic.
