If you are an assess at end of season type of perspective it is mostly meaningless. If you enjoy each game as a journey and separate event, its a very good snapshot of the significance of the moment.
Great example is the 2012-13 Braggin Rights game. That was #10 vs #12 at that point in time. It was a marquee big time matchup. Both teams went on to win only 23 games and neither had a significant season. But in terms of the fan experience of that specific game it was a significant event.
