didn't get sufficient respect. Because the B1G as a whole got all the respect that they rightly deserve, and then some.
Top 3 national seeds. Well deserved.
6 of the top 16 national seeds. 2 clearly well deserved, Michigan and Michigan State. UM got seeded right on their RPI mark. MSU got seeded 6 spots higher than their final RPI and poll position. Plenty of respect there.
Most close observers of college VB seem to agree Penn State got a questionable seed, based on their history more than anything else. They were seeded 10 spots over their final RPI of 26, which is clearly an anomaly to past practice by the selection committee. But they did finish 4th in the best conference in the country.
2 more B1G teams made the field, both well deserved, Ohio State and Purdue. Does he think one or both of them deserved to be seeded? LOL if so.
Illinois was a bubble team who didn't make it. If that's a lack of respect for the B1G it's a tiny, tiny morsel. Not anything for the coach to whine about. Saying the B1G suffers from a lack of respect is pretty silly. Don't know what the exact words were.
Hey, Purdue is a quality team. If they upset Mizzou tonight I will be very disappointed, but not shocked or surprised. But Mizzou is the better team, not by a huge margin, but we are.
Purdue had their chances in the B1G this year. Got a big break only playing Nebraska and Minnesota once each. But they only went 1-9 against the other B1G teams that made the NCAA tourney. And lost 3 times in conference to teams that didn't make the tourney: Northwestern, Iowa, and Illinois. And finished 8-12 in conference play, in 10th place, behind 2 teams that didn't make the tourney.
They had 2 very good OOC wins early in the season, against Stanford and Kansas. But that's about it. And lost a tough one to Kentucky, who we swept. It's going to be a tough match with them tonight I think.
But saying the B1G suffers from a lack of respect is ridiculous.
