He's a guy who I genuinely believe can get a team to play to its maximum potential over a single season. We saw that when he got here. I don't think any coach in the country could've won more games.
Tulsa also saw a light version of that. He inherited a tournament team, and they pretty much stayed the same. If nothing else, they didn't get worse.
What he can't do, though, is build on that. Can't develop players year to year. Can't recruit players with a cohesive plan to build a long-term foundation. Can't identify the malcontents from the rest of the bunch.
If you had a ready-made roster and needed a budget coach to win that year and that year alone, he's a fine option. If you need anything else, he's among the worst choices you can find.
