who has said "that could/would never happen here!" University leaders everywhere (yes, even at original SEC schools) have been developing plans & various scenarios while being thankful they weren't the first to have to deal with it.
Say "it couldn't happen here" & challenge karma & fate at your own risk. The (not so) perfect storm hit us & there was no manual in dealing with it in real time. Yes, mistakes were made but NOBODY ANYWHERE would've been prepared for it. Some would've handled it better while others would've botched it worse. It's a little easier to go back with the luxury of hindsight and dissect every move while analyzing what could've been done differently. A little different with the bank of cameras, microphones & spotlights staring back at you.
