introduction by Johnnie Parker. I guess you could say that Fuller went with Kim to try and get him to honor his committment.

Jakeenan and myself have a great relationship. He’s an outstanding young man. I was able to build a bridge of trust with his mother and his support system, his AAU coach and his high school coach. They had always said, ‘Fuller, if you’re there, he’s there. We want him to stay with you.’ His mom told Coach Anderson in our first meeting that she made the decision that she wanted Jakeenan to be around a man like me because he hadn’t had a father figure in a long time. It’s part of that obligation, Dave, that we were talking about earlier. It’s not just about basketball. It’s about trust with these families. It’s a monumental decision: Go or stay. And you’re dealing with people, not just a round ball.
In Namon's case, I didn’t recruit Namon. (Former assistant) Mark Phelps did, but I picked up the process once Coach Anderson came back. Namon told his mom, ‘Coach Fuller didn’t recruit me but I watched him on his visit and he's about business. He can help me get better. He’s coached a lot of guys in the NBA, so I don't see another station out here better than what I have at Missouri.’ The combination of bringing in a genuine, sincere individual like Kim Anderson and the bridges of trust that were already established, it was a perfect fit. It was a good marriage.
