Even with better offensive production, Missouri failed to pull away — and stay away — from a Division II team that finished 14-15 last year and was picked to finish ninth in the 14-team Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this season.
Coach Doug Karleskint is in his third year at UCM, and his attempt to rebuild the Mules sounded quite similar to the approach Anderson has tried to champion at Missouri.
“We tried to make some adjustments and recruit good kids that fit our style, that do what we want to do on a daily basis,” Karleskint said. “I think we have. We’re light years ahead of where we were last year.”
