Geist just needs more reps out there and he will acclimate into being a very good guard in the rotation. Nikko also needs as much playing time as we can get him in the non-conf. Really impressive how he played after essentially beigng off the court the entire summer.
The bad - Woods does not have the requisite physical skills to be successful in the SEC. Never seen a "big" with such a weak lower body. CVL as team babysitter is not a good use of his talents. He played good D and was good with the ball, so the amount of time he played was fine. The problem was that he was essentially playing as a 2nd PG last night and not moving to spots on the perimeter for open shots. Maybe they were using the scrimmage to give him that experience, idk? Puryear had a bad night offensively, but is in excellent shape. He did a good job rebounding against a legit big man for CMSU. All four sophomores look a lot stronger. Walton...they say he was sick, but it wasn't physical shortcomings that were the problem. He doesn't make good decisions with tthe ball. His shooting form appears more jacked this season than last year. Hughes is all around the better player, and when Barnett comes onboard, I foresee even less time for Walton.
