Just so disgusted with Mizzous scheduling every year. It's like the equivalent of playing Delaware State in football 4 weeks in a row. I don't think there is a thing you can take away that tells you anything because the competition is so worthless.
The only exception, and here I agree a little with what you said, is pitching. Not the outs and strikeouts, which is just not a fair fight. But at least you can judge some things about a pitcher, like velocity, accuracy, movement on the ball, mastery of crucial pitches like a good change up, etc. regardless of who is batting, or if a scarecrow was placed at the plate with a broom for a bat. And in that context, Baxter looked very good. She was firing strikes over and over, and had good velocity. As we all know, she's been inconsistent before, and could look great for a few hitters and then lose composure and unravel and get wild. EE has alluded several times to her being a better practice pitcher than she shows in games. So I was encouraged by that, even though against teams with a pulse more of her pitches would have been coming right back at her, certainly. Hopefully most of them right to Mizzou fielders.
Commenting on our first team offense from fall ball is a complete waste of time IMO. But I thought all 4 pitchers looked good in their own ways last Friday, by the standard of judging you are relegated to in the fall.
Bringing on the feared, fighting Scotties of Highland (Kansas) CC in 2 days. The highlights will be a beautiful fall afternoon and a hotdog, I'm afraid.
