When I attended MU in the 70's I had a coworker that ran on the cross country team. He would don his sweats after work, around 9PM, and do his cross country exercise on his way home. One night while he was walking after his run, 4-5 young black men walked past him the opposite way and the last thing he remembered before waking in the hospital was, White Boy you are in the Wrong place. If a police car hadn't shown up they would have probably kicked him to death. He had broken ribs, lost sight in one eye, but recovered. But you know what was amazing. He told me, they were probably right, I was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time, NOTHING ABOUT RACISM, NOTHING ABOUT NEEDING A SAFE PLACE, AND DEFINITELY NO HEADLINES OR MANEATHER COLUMNS, Just amazing
