1st off, as a fan I love that it's a 11am kickoff. No waiting all day, let's see what this teams got.
WVU has only 2 returning players on defense with starting experience back. The defense was only above average last year anyway. No linebackers back, only 1 of 5 DB's and one of they're starting DE's and both D-Tackles are all either out with injuries or suspension. There best recruit coming in was injured and out. But the returning guy at DE is one hell of a player. Overall though, If we can't score on this defense then the offense is gonna be as bad as last year....
The opposite is said about their offense. Arguably the best offense we'll see all year. They do have a starting guard out for the game but overall one of the best lines in the nation offensively. I'm not too impressed with the QB, good not great. But proven which we can't say about ours. Their best runner went to the NFL so they're looking to replace him there.
The Mountaineer Kicker will be ineligible for the first 3 games so we'll see if that plays a factor.
It comes down to their strength vs ours. If our defense can hold them to under 27 then I think that's the magic number. It comes down to if Heupel and the new OL coach and the offseason transfers and recruits can improve the offense at all. If they even just take it from horrible to average then I think that's enough to hang 27+ on WVU's very inexperienced defense.
