I really like Kemp as a log-term project, but if he's not going to contribute right away, a redshirt makes sense. That's rare in basketball. Even if he's more likely just a "spot filler," if consider it, as that class is already huge anyway. If he's so bad that he wouldn't help even as a fifth-year senior, he'll probably transfer eventually anyway.
