He was never lacking for intelligence, and he was certainly a true point guard with unparalleled court vision and passing abilities. We would be so lucky to have a player like Pressey once in a generation.
Did he stumble at the end of games? Yes. A lot of games? Perhaps. But the man averaged nearly 7 assists a game during his last two years at Missouri. His performance against UCLA at Pauley in 2012-13 is probably something we'll never see again in the history of the program. The fact is, the entire team revolved around him that year, so when we lost, we lost on his shoulders, and when we won, we won on his shoulders.
The year before, with the seniors around him, nobody complained about Pressey. He wasn't perfect in his final year, but neither was his team, and Pressey was a convenient scapegoat for problems that weren't really his fault. That 2012-13 team finishes .500 without him and wouldn't have been anywhere near the NCAA Tournament.
