He signed for about half (not 1/3) of what he was making at Mizzou, not including his new incentives. He was a also a finalist for the Frank Broyles award as best assistant coach in the country when he left. He was held in pretty high regard. He could have taken a job as a DC with another P5 school if in fact he was forced out. I don't believe he was. I do believe he wanted to be a head coach and his window was closing. Guys don't usually become first time head coaches at P5 schools at his age.
