Not sure if that is permanent but I don't remember the White helmets having a solid stripe like the one in Gabe D's picture when they were unveiled in the BYU game last November.
Sorry for the picture quality here, but I can seem to find many other photos from the Beat writers today. Some photos from the Columbia Missourian show the offense not wearing stripes, so it may be a way to denote defense vs. offense. Here is a link to those photos.

Again this might not mean anything for the other helmets but maybe, just maybe Barry Odom's connection to the past can bring back the three stripes that adorned the Football teams helmets for over 40 years. Let's not completely turn our head on tradition.
At the end of the day, the uniform doesn't make the team play any better or worse, or at least the color scheme, so it doesn't matter but I thought that was interesting that they were different.
