For that matter, no, I don't think Goold can mind meld Matheny's competence to greater degrees, but he sure is more than competent to judge the competency of his job as a baseball manager!

I'll do your blind "jump to conclusions" type of responding & just state that you must not believe Matheny is capable of ever making a mistake, I guess & can do nothing to impact a game - he's Christ in a baseball uniform in some circles, I guess.
