Look at how unpopular the "open door" policy is in Europe to the massive influx of refugees from the Middle Eastern war zone, which we & they are largely responsible for, and yet the elites continue to ram it down the throats of the citizens. Theoretically, the politicians' policies would try to follow the will of their citizens in a Democracy.
