they can't even settle on what their befuddled party line to the public is. What useless clowns.

For Democrats, Is It 'Great America' Or 'Hate America'?

Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota said that the Democratic Party platform this year is "the most progressive platform in history."

In recent days, Democrats at the convention have repeatedly said "America is already great," an obvious rejoinder to Donald Trump's now-famous catchphrase, "make America great again."

Fair enough. But if those attending this convention think America is great, they have a funny way of showing it. No American flags. Little visible appreciation for the blessings our country confers on all who are born here. Just resentment, anger, and a surprising number of flags of foreign tyrannies, like Cuba and Nicaragua.

And if Democrats think America is already great, why are they seeking to change it to its very roots?

By the party's own repeated admissions, its recent shift has been profound and sharply to the left. Top party officials, too numerous to count, have said the same thing in recent days: The Democrats' current platform and political leadership are the "most progressive" ever.

In truth, that platform's enactment would be the most far-reaching and radical change in our nation ever.

Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota was at least honest in his remarks: "It's true — the most progressive platform in history. A $15 minimum wage! Banning private prisons! Expanding Social Security! Public Option! Debt-free college tuition!"

Yes, and taxpayers — including working people — would be forced to pay for each and every one of them with their taxes, whether they want to or not. It represents a massive shift away from personal initiative, hard work and responsibility, toward pathological dependence and reliance on Big Government.

The bedrock of America has always — always — been its free-market system, which has provided greater wealth and opportunity for more people than any other system ever. Yet, there have been no comments made from the convention stage in unqualified support of our free-market system. None.

In conversations with attendees and at demonstrations on the sidelines of the convention, socialists, Marxists and even pro-totalitarian communists have a welcome embrace. Free-market capitalism? Few defenders at all.

The truth is, as the Democratic platform clearly shows, the Democratic Party now is in near total opposition to the free-market system we have — favoring instead top-down control of nearly every aspect of American life.

In addition to demonizing entrepreneurs, "the 1%" and major corporations, the platform document calls for extensive regulation, massive new taxation and outright takeovers of major U.S. industries.

It represents, basically, a war on capital — the fuel of our innovation. Capital comes from initiative — saving, hard work, study, training, investment. But these are all imperiled by the Democratic Party's special brand of progressive neo-socialism.

"Progressive" is not a new term -- it has a very specific historical meaning. It is rooted in the philosophies of Hegel, Marx and Engels. It is contrary to the history, traditions and roots of America's unique freedoms, its Constitution and its free-market system.

President Reagan memorably called America a "shining city on a hill." And he meant it. Democrats say "America is great" as a talking point to deflect criticisms from the opposition of their lack of patriotism.

It's a non-sequitur to say you think "America is already great" but want to eradicate the very basis of that greatness.
