a couple of years or so ago my wife pushed me into trying a nasal spray when my allergies were particularly bad.
I was AMAZED at how well it worked! One spritz into each nostril made the misery vanish almost instantaneously. It was like a miracle.
Then I googled it to see how this magical concoction worked.
Unfortunately, there were quite a few warnings about a "rebound effect" and how your body becomes habituated to it over time and that your nasal passages can swell and become worse even in the absence of allergens if used too much.
I asked my sister, a nurse about it and she said that yes, that could be a big problem. She knew people that had to use those sprays every day year round or they couldn't function because of that rebound effect. They were in essence "addicted" and couldn't quit... or weren't willing to suffer the effects which were far worse than the original ailment.
