On Friday (July 22), Wikileaks published thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee, including one email thread revealing Ariana Grande had a proposed White House performance rejected over her donut-licking scandal last year.
The leaked emails show a request to vet Grande with interest in booking her for a White House gala late last year. While Grande seems to have a clean criminal and financial record, as Gawker reports, the vetting includes a detailed report of the controversy in which Grande was caught on camera at a donut shop, saying "I hate America" and "maliciously" licking some unsupervised pastries.
There was also controversy around this incident with Republican congressman Jeff Duncan from South Carolina calling out America's "double standards" for not bashing the pop star Grande over her candid words the same way it had presidential candidate Donald Trump over his comments regarding Mexican migrants.
The report also includes notes about Grande blasting a fan over a homophobic remark about her gay brother Frankie.
Staffer Kevin Snowden summarized: "Video caught her licking other peoples' donuts while saying she hates America; Republican Congressman used this video and said it was a double standard that liberals were not upset with her like they are with Trump who criticized Mexicans; cursed out a person on Twitter after that person used an offensive word towards her brother."
Upon this review, White House employee Bobby Schmuck's replied swiftly and simply to the suggestion: "Nope, sorry."
