I am fairly sure Cruz is using the father and wife thing as a smokescreen. Hitting back at the other candidate's wife after yours has been attacked (by their super pac, wink, wink, nudge, nudge so independent) and pointing out an oddity about your family's political connections is run-of-the-mill politics.
