As far as the Carolina Panthers winning the super bowl comparison, it's not really a close comparison. The Panthers were a 2 win team last season and I'm not sure there has ever been a team go from 2 wins to winning the super bowl whereas I have given many examples of assistant coaches being hired as HC at a P5 school.
