I went to Mizzou in 1967 and the word Mizzou was in the fight song. There was a Miss Mizzou each year and she was given a raincoat similar to the one worn by a lady in the "Terry and the Pirates" newspaper strip which was nationally syndicated. Sometimes Mizzou referred to itself as Ole Mizzou similar to Ole Miss. All this was in place for years before I came there. I doubt we copied Wazzu since the fightsong probably used the phrase after it had been in place for many years.
