Should be a good bounce back game against an overmatched opponent, at home.
SLU is 2-7 on the year, lost to a ranked Baylor team by 34, lost to a good Northern Iowa team by 20, lost to an average Missouri St team by 16. Their only wins are against SIU-E and Air Force. Should be the type of game where we get a lot of playing time for the non starters.
This weekend is a much better test, in fact the last potentially serious test before SEC play starts.
We get UMass on Saturday in Tempe, then host Arizona St on Sunday.
UMass is a good team, the only team on our non conference schedule besides VT that has the potential to be a top 50 NET team, so beating them would be significant for our NCAA tournament resume with an otherwise very weak schedule. They are 6-1, their only loss was 74-65 to Tennessee, and they have a solid win over a pretty good Drake team 100-83 in OT, where they outscored them 17-0 in OT. Drake is a good team, earlier they took #10 Iowa to OT.
ASU is 5-1 on the year, opened 5-0 against a very weak schedule then lost to #7 Notre Dame by 20 last weekend. They were also picked to finish dead last in the PAC 12. Still, playing them on their home court could be challenging.
