I have agreed with the majority of your posts on this subject over the last three years and Sterk was a seasoned AD who should have known better, but Wayne Kreklow put them in a really bad spot retiring right before the season the way he did. Really an unfortunate situation for all parties. Josh Taylor wasn't ready.
