Mike Pence--A modern day Daniel

Daniel, a devout Jew, became second in command to the King of Babylon, a pagan. He served him faithfully.
Mike Pence, a devout Christian, was second in command to President Trump, a pagan. He served him faithfully.

Daniel received an order from the King that he knew would violate God's law. He refused to follow it. Mike Pence received an order from Trump that he knew violated God's law and man's law, the Constitution. He refused to follow it.

Daniel was thrown into the lion's den, but with the protection of a just and merciful God, he survived. Mike Pence went through a figurative lion's den, pursued by a howling mob of fanatics seeking to hang him. But with the protection of a just and merciful God, he survived and did his duty.

The parallels are striking. Both received orders from the sovereign that they knew were contrary to the law. Both followed their conscience, did what they knew what was right, risked their lives in doing so, and came through terrible danger unscratched.

Some modern day Christians, including some on this board, have been corrupted by the lure of power. They seek power at all costs, even at the cost of justice and morality. But power without justice and morality is ungodly, and will ultimately destroy him who holds it and his followers.

Thank God that Pence followed the example of Daniel rather than the corrupt orders of his pagan President.
