which is what makes a shifting and evolving interpretation of things such as our Constitution so dangerous. It allows people to leave the clear words and try to ascertain what those writers were thinking. Most often what people are thinking is contained in the words they use. Trying to get inside their thought process at the time is a dubious notion to be sure.
