homeless and sleeping in the Delaware University computer labs.

Taylor’s setbacks since arriving before the 2007-08 season have been well-chronicled. Taylor’s engagement was called off; Keon Lawrence, who would have been the best man at his wedding, unexpectedly left the team; and his grandmother died. But Taylor also endured plenty just to get to Missouri.
For two weeks in the summer of 2007, he was without a home. Taylor’s mom, Vicky, had given him enough money to rent a cheap off-campus apartment as he took summer classes at Delaware. He needed those classes to qualify for MU. But when his roommate suddenly left, Taylor couldn’t pay the rent and was evicted.
Some nights, Taylor slept at the school’s computer lab. He shuffled between friends’ houses.
“I tried to keep my mom in the dark for a little bit,” he said. “She would have been freaked out if she knew I was in a computer lab. Parents protect you, but sometimes you’ve got to protect your parents.”
“I was really worried about him,” said Vicky, a human resources worker in Staten Island.
So was Missouri. Taylor, with no money to replace his broken charger, was without a phone.
