reputation, and was a driving force behind our admission into the SEC.

Some of you seem to have no clue why *every university in America* wants to be part of this exclusive club.

As others have pointed out, Iowa State withdrew because they had no choice. The new ranking criteria made their expulsion inevitable, and it's less embarrassing to leave than to get forcefully kicked out (like Nebraska was).
