Seemed to be rushing her free throws. And as mentioned got one back on a lane violation, otherwise she would have been 8-14.
However I will say she has worked on improving her free throw shooting, last year she shot just 60.2%, this year she was hitting nearly 70% (69.7 going into last nights game), until her 9-14 dropped her to 69.0%. Still a big improvement over last year.
Of course, the bar was set pretty low for her. As much as she gets to the line, I would hope that improving her free throw shooting even more is a focus for her and the coaching staff. Just getting up in the 75-76% range could make the difference in close games. She got to the line 14 times last night, and our best FT shooter, Frank, had 0 attempts. That hurt. On the season Blackwell has had 113 FT attempts, next are Frank with 46, Williams with 39, Troup with 37, no one else with over 20 attempts.
Btw Georgia is right there with us on free throws, we led them barely coming into the game last night but with their 16-19 performance, and our 12-18, they have inched ahead of us in the SEC, 72.5% to 72.0%.
Nationally those numbers equate to #108 and #114 in the country.
