Last night wasn’t a must win game, rather it was a great opportunity squandered. And those great opportunities are starting to dwindle. As others have pointed out, our current tournament resume is a mile high and an inch deep. Here are our 5 best wins this year, using today’s NET ranking as a guide:

1 SC
95 Murray St
96 Auburn
107 Columbia
109 Troy

Notice the obvious problem there? Our other 8 non conference wins are in the 150+ range, which doesn’t help us either.

Our 5 losses have all been to good teams:

15 LSU
21 Georgia
23 Baylor
27 Mo St
32 Arkansas

But its getting time to start adding some top 25 and top 50 wins to our resume. Here are the highest value potential wins left on the schedule:

6 Tennessee
21 Georgia
31 Ole Miss
32 Arkansas
41 TAMU
45 Kentucky

The toughest two teams by far, Tennessee and Georgia, are road games, those will be difficult to win, but I’m encouraged by the way we played on the road against LSU and Baylor, we can win those games if we bring our A game, weve proved that against SC and LSU. The other 4 are at home, we really, really need to win 3 of those 4, if not all 4. Going 3-3 in those 6 toughest remaining games will put in in the tournament I think, as long as we don’t lose several games against the easier teams left on our schedule.

These games won’t help us much, but will hurt us if we lose:

56 Alabama
62 Miss St (2)
69 Vandy
82 Florida

4 of those 5 are on the road, which adds another degree of difficulty. But we are better than those teams, we need to take care of business against them.

Starting with Vandy this Thursday. It’s too early to call that a must win game, but a loss would be really damaging.
