1. I’m happy to inform everyone that I’ve been told by a reliable source that the season is in fact not over, we still have 11 regular season games to play, plus the SEC tourney, prior to selection night.

2. There are still plenty of opportunities to build our resume for the selection committee, but yes, those opportunities are dwindling, and last night was a lost opportunity to secure a huge signature win. We played our B game, maybe B-, and still had a great chance to upset a better team. We were only down by 1 point around the 4 minute mark of the 4th quarter, and the game was there to be had. Then Georgia scored 7 straight to push it to an 8 point margin, and the opportunity was lost, as they hit 9-10 FTs in the last minute to close us out.

3. We came out flat, got blown out in the first quarter, then showed a lot of heart by outscoring them 21-10 in the second quarter to make it a game. But we never led once in the game. Georgia is a very good team, they will end up somewhere in the 12-16 range in the nation I think, and are the 4th best team in the SEC, behind SC, Tennessee and LSU. Talented, well coached, with a great post player.

4. Speaking of post players, we have 6 roster spots filled by post players and literally no production out of any of them when Williams is injured and unable to play. Her play against SC and Auburn was outstanding. Bad luck (injuries) and sub par recruiting by Pingeton has us coming to a gun fight armed with a knife in SEC play. Every game. It’s a testament to the rest of the team that we have been so competitive against really good teams with no real post game. Also disheartening. Just one healthy, real post player would make us a top 20 team. Yet there is no evidence that 5/6 of our post players are good enough to compete and contribute in the SEC.

5. Hansen had an off night, 10 points on 4-14 shooting, including 2-8 from the 3 point line. That’s going to happen with her sometimes. The bigger problem is we are literally playing 3 on 5 on the offensive end. Blackwell, Frank and Hansen scored 55 of our 62 points, we only got 7 points from the entire rest of the team. And only 2 points after halftime. Someone else needs to step up and give us consistent scoring in support of our top 3. Troup, Dembele, Izzy and Smith are the candidates, who among them can, or will, step up?

6. As mentioned by others, why is a simple inbounds pass such a dramatic, dangerous, cliff hanging experience for this team? That’s coaching. Or a lack of it.

Disappointing to be in a position for another huge signature win, yet again (see Baylor, LSU) and not be able to do it. How long can we live off the huge SC win? Not a lot longer, I think. We need to start beating more good teams if we are going to make the tourney.
