The knee jerk reaction is to blame Dembele, which is wrong. Plenty of things went wrong in OT in the gallant effort to upset #12 LSU on the road. A recap:

4:25 Troup misses 3 pointer (air ball)
3:43 Blackwell layup
3:17 Frank misses 3 point shot
3:09 Hansen misses 3 point shot
2:58, Blackwell layup and was fouled
2:58 Blackwell TO, left line early on badly missed FT
2:28 TO Frank
2:00 TO Blackwell
1:23 TO Dembele
0:35 Dembele misses 3 point shot
0:13 Troup hits 2 free throws to tie game
0:00 Dembele misses layup at the buzzer

Yeah, Dembele had a bad turnover in the last 2 minutes. But in the critical last 3 minutes of OT Blackwell had 2 turnovers and Frank had 1. In OT, in a critical minute and a half time period we turned the ball over 4 straight times. That really hurt, and it was a team effort. Note on turnovers: we had 10 turnovers in the first half, then only 2 more the entire 2nd half, which was outstanding. Then we have 4 straight TOs in crunch time in OT in a minute and a half. Go figure.

Yeah, Dembele shouldn’t be the one shooting the 3 in the last minute of OT. But we were 15-27 on 3 pointers in regulation, then went 0-4 in OT, and that was a team effort too. Frank, Hansen and Troup also missed 3s in OT. Mizzou’s inability to get the ball in Hansen or Frank’s hands in crunch time in OT really hurt us. And yeah I know they were being guarded closely by a previously clueless LSU team who left the two of them open time and again in regulation. But each took exactly 1 shot in OT, and none in the last 3 minutes. Note: Frank had exactly 1 shot in the last 12:45 of the game (regulation and OT), a missed 3 pointer at 3:17 of OT.

Regarding 3 point shots, as a few have pointed out, I’m not a coach. But I can read a stat sheet. There are 2 players who should be shooting 3s, and 2 players who should not. See if you can pick them out:

Frank 43-92, 46.7%
Hansen 38-90, 42.2%
Troup 14-49, 28.6%
Blackwell 13-47, 27.7%

And the team defense was lacking in the last 13 seconds of OT when we let them drive the lane for an easy layup, setting the stage for Dembeles mad dash up court in the last 5 seconds to try and tie.

So don’t blame Dembele, she came up short in OT but so did others. It was a team effort.

And congratulate the team for an amazing game and gutty effort on the road. I’m feeling more encouraged about this team than I have been at any point this season. We showed the SC game wasn’t just a fluke. And we did it with Williams on the bench; her health issues the last 2 games, right when she was playing her best basketball of the year, has hurt us. Hope she recovers soon.
