In terms of the basketball part of it I think he is more akin to the RockM bloggers, which is fine because there is certainly a place for that kind of analysis too.
I think the disconnect between you and he all comes down to expectations. He can correct me if I am recalling incorrectly, but I believe he said he played collegiantly at a lower level. I think he reasonably views recruits, current players, overall rosters, coaching techniques, etc through that lens. If MU builds what would be a middle of the road Mo Valley team, that probably looks pretty reasonable from that perspective. I find it distasteful how he tries to put down or discredit the program's history to justify our current state, but if your exposure to MU basketball is from the last decade or so its easy to see how having very low expectations and benchmarks for success could be created.
Part of being a fan, at least hopefully, is some illogical optimism. I think its good to have some of that presented on the board as well. We don't definitively know that Cuonzo is going to fail at MU, at this point we have no idea what to expect from this team because we basically haven't seen any of these guys play before. It probably won't work, but this is the window of time to hold out hope that it might.
