I was the Poplar Bluff team host for their three trips to Columbia. As a sophomore, he flat out said he was going to be a Tiger. By the time they returned for his junior year, he had decided to stay quiet and wait. The Quin era was about to implode.
When they came back his senior year he had already committed to UNC. His brother, a great player in his own right, told me that Tyler had lost respect for Quin and went to a place he could win the national championship. Which he did.
