I agree with your post very much.
In regards to Hayley Frank I believe you need to account for the defensive job she did in guarding Copeland. She held her to 3-12 shooting, and frustrated her. Hayley expended a lot of energy keeping Copeland in check. Agree Hayley isn’t athletic enough, and likely won’t ever be seen as a great athlete. She can still be very productive, and I’m confident that’s what we’ll see from her going forward.
I’ve been saying the team needs better post defense in order to win close games. Like the announcers said you can’t allow the center to get both feet in the paint. Their center was 8-10 from the field. I believe she was 6-7 from the free throw line too. I thought maybe Linthacum could help in the post defense, but realize she probably wouldn’t help on the offensive end.
We missed enough layups and put backs to keep us out of the lead.
An issue I see is 3 good players for us play the same position (Hansen, Dickson, and Troup). I believe this is also where Dorroh fits into the scheme next year too. I think Dickson won’t be returning, but if she does, I hope she can refine her game into the point guard position.
As you said we’re going to be mediocre in the SEC again next year if we don’t solve the post position.
