Here are the last 4 teams in the NCAA according to ESPN bracketology, and their NET rank:

37 South Dakota
39 Michigan St
43 Wash St
52 Notre Dame

And here are the first 4 out:

48 Houston
51 Wake Forest
59 BYU
67 Oklahoma

And the next 4 out after them:

47 Ole Miss
50 Colorado
54 Seton Hall
72 Miami Fla

Heck, we have a better NET than projected 7 seed Miss St (45), 8 seed Syracuse (42), and 9 seeds FSU (49) and DePaul (56), all at large teams.

So yeah, right now we have a better NET rank than 7 teams projected to get at large bids, and a far better NET rank than the first 8 teams out. Not even close there.

Winning 3 of those 6 close losses would have gotten us an NCAA bid, no doubt. We just didn’t have any signature wins to speak of, and no, strange as it sounds, whipping this years Miss St team on the road hardly qualifies. But it was our best win of the year by far.
