Best: Boulder: Went the year after the 5th Down. Flew in on Thursday afternoon to Stapleton in Denver and played golf right after we landed at a course near the airport. Drove up at sunset into the foothills. Went to Rocky Mountain National Park, more golf, great bars. Worst part about the trip was the game. There were so many Saturdays back then where you knew unless the other team had a bus accident we had no chance. Pinkel changed that anyway.

Oxford: I went when we played them in a non-conference game. Great tailgating - people could not have been nicer. Went to a bar on Beale Street where all the Mizzou people were that Friday. Great trip.

Bloomington: Went every time we played there in the 80s. Terrible games but a great college town. All those BIG campuses are gorgeous.

Honorable Mention: Knoxville. Had a lot of fun. Went there for the game when DGB caught a TD pass with under a minute to go and we beat them in like 4 OTs for our first SEC Road win. Funny thing was we were down 10 at the half. We were not stopping them at all, and my friend wanted to leave. I said, we get the ball to start the half; if we score we are right back in it. First play from scrimmage, we scored when our back - and I cannot remember who it was, took a screen pass 80 yards for a score and we were right back in it.

Worst:

Lawrence: Went there Brad Smith's junior year when they beat us for the last time. Took a bus as part of a package deal that the Quarterback Club had. Bus parked over by Allen Field House, and as we were leaving, had to walk through a gauntlet of kansas fans to get back to the bus. They were not that obnoxious I guess but didn't want to hear them. Then the bus broke down on the turnpike back to KC. Ugh. Fortunately, we stopped at a liquor store before leaving town.

Lincoln - Saw that game Woody's last year when we had them by the balls and let them off the hook. Just seemed kind of dirty, cold and out in the middle of frigging nowhere.
