have much choice, given Bernie's strong run from the far communist left. I think the dems believe they can sustain a viable national party under socialism, but communism is a bridge too far. Bernie would have destroyed the party for a generation, maybe forever. A mentally compromise Biden might lose in a landslide, but allows the party to survive to fight another day.
