valuable minutes off the bench.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the minutes get distributed this year, there are only so many to go around. Here are how the minutes were distributed this past season:
6 players with 24-29 minutes per game:
Blackwell 29
Smith 28.5
Roundtree 28.3
Chavis 27.6
Schuchts 25
Frank 24.3
Then Troup with 18 and Green with 14.5 (I keep completely forgetting about Troup when I talk about playing time this season).
It was a very different picture the prior year, when Sophie was a senior, three players with significantly more minutes than anyone else:
Sophie 34.3
Aldridge 31.3
Smith 28.5
Then 8 more players between 12-20 minutes a game. Now that was skewed a bit by Berg and Porter only playing half a season each.
I’m anticipating with the better talent this year we are going to see a core of 3-4 players with a lot of minutes and the rest divided up by another 7-8 players. How do we not play Blackwell, Frank, Dickson, and Dufficy a ton of minutes? And Dembele is the wild card, if she is mature enough to be the starting point guard as a true freshman by the time SEC play rolls around, you would add her to those 4 and think all of them get 28-30 minutes a game. And the other roughly 50-55 minutes a game divided by the other players.
