Again, why did Cuonzo think playing Tilmon would be unfair to Tilmon?
Here's the actual quote:
“I just think he still needs to get reps under his belt in practice to get in game situations,” Martin said. “... He hasn’t practiced, really. … He hasn’t been up and down the floor. So to be fair to him, just let him get up and down the floor a little bit more.”
Cuonzo's lineups, lineup changes and player substitutions have been head scratchers all year, and this is just another example of that. It's not really a winning mentality.
All that being said, I think Tilmon would be smart to never play another minute and save himself for pro ball.
Coaches need to win, however, and they don't have a lot of time to mess around; even coaching a sub-500 team.
