Hard to extrapolate from basketball numbers, but the NBA combine tests 3/4 court sprints. 3/4 of a court is 23.5 yards.
Elite times in that are in the 3.0 to 3.15 seconds range. Huge difference between running in basketball shoes on a court vs. running in cleats on turf, and the first 10 yards are the slowest by a wide margin, but some *very* rough math translates those NBA numbers to low 4s or even 5 range.
I suspect a guy like Pinson (and almost all basketball players) lacks the top-end speed of most football athletes. His skill is an elite first step (and the ability to make that first step with a ball in his hands).
If he were to train specifically to run a 40 like a football player, I’d guess he’s in like the 4.6 range at best.
