What incentive does Martin have to succeed?

Really? With his buy-out, why put in the extra effort to sign elite level players, hire outstanding assistants, do the hard work of developing players, etc.? After all, if you get canned before the end of your contract, you'll have enough money to sail into a nice retirement and put the pressures of big time college basketball behind you. It just seems to me that HCCM has lost whatever mogo he had at one time. Maybe he's too old-fashioned, especially with his laser focus on defense. Maybe he's suffering from burn-out. Maybe he can't relate to today's big-ego elite players. Whatever the problem, I doubt it will be solved before we need to bite the bullet, buy out his contract and hopefully find someone who can make us relevant again.
